T...@Steve, ah yes... that is a frustrating problem. There are two solutions. One I recommend, and one I use as a LAST resort. I recommend using a stronger selector. Notice that my selectors above have multiple items in the CSS path. For example: #ptpglts .ptpagelet .EOPP_SCSECTIONCONTENT. The most qualified selector wins. You just have to make your selector more specific. PeopleSoft delivered CSS only uses a single path class selector. Just add one more item to your selector and you win.

The one I don't recommend is adding !important after each declaration. It works, but it basically eliminates all future attempts to override that definition.Jim Marionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12995110203807924786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34020393.post-44426380597802980272014-05-19T14:45:31.588-07:002014-05-19T14:45:31.588-07:00Jim,

I don't believe...@Ken, that is a good question. I don't believe you can remove the "Main Menu" link based on role. I believe that as long as you have access to menu items, you will have that link. And if you remove access to all menu items, then you would basically remove access to the PeopleSoft application, and then what would be the point?

An alternative is to use CSS to hide the menu in a particular theme. Then you use role based branding to assign that theme to users. Themes have weight, so you could make the default theme be the one with the hidden menu and then make a super user role and theme and assign that to the super users (progressive enhancement).

I wouldn't think there would be any security concerns with this approach because you aren't giving users access to anything they don't already have. If some hacker figures out how to use Firebug or IE developer tools to change the menu to display: block, then that just gives the user another navigation path. True security would involve removing permissions at the component level, and that would remove the items from the menu.Jim Marionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12995110203807924786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34020393.post-40715413393996854762014-03-27T12:55:58.431-07:002014-03-27T12:55:58.431-07:00I am implementing the interaction hub and am wonde...I am implementing the interaction hub and am wondering the best way take off the "Main Menu" link across the bottom of the header via a security role. You are using Meta-HTML, which isn't supported in Pagelet Wizard... yet (I keep asking for it). Instead, you need to use the PeopleSoft PSIMG XML tag along with some special XSL. The special XSL is documented in a blog post here.

The PSIMG tag creates an IMG tag with a src attribute based on the IMG app designer ID. This is in contrast to the background approach you are using. I don't believe there is a delivered solution for referencing app designer images without an IMG tag. For that, I use my own Meta-HTML parser and display format, a portion of which is described in my PeopleTools Tips book.Jim Marionhttps://www.blogger.com/profile/12995110203807924786noreply@blogger.comtag:blogger.com,1999:blog-34020393.post-48848047721146271312014-02-11T11:07:55.171-08:002014-02-11T11:07:55.171-08:00Hi Jim
